genealogy question - davemchine - 01-12-2014 I have documentation that my great-great-great-great grandfather applied for indian citizenship. He documented three generations of indians beginning with him going back to his father and grandfather. Here is my question. My dna test shows that I am 99.5% european. Is it even possible that the remaining .5% is indian? I'm inclined to think something is hinkey but I'm curious and I can't do the math. :-) Re: genealogy question - DeusxMac - 01-12-2014 You have 32 great great great great grand fathers. The father of one of those men is one of 64 men to you, the grandfather is one of 128 men. 1/32 = 3% 1/64 = 1.5% 1/128 = 0.8% Re: genealogy question - haikuman - 01-12-2014 My genealogy is complete *(:>* ![]() Re: genealogy question - davemchine - 01-12-2014 DeusxMac, I bow before your math skills. So far it has been a fun situation. Re: genealogy question - Ombligo - 01-12-2014 It isn't the monogamy that matters, that math assumes he was 100% Indian. Re: genealogy question - The UnDoug - 01-12-2014 I assume you are talking about Native American Indian, right? So far it has been a fun situation. Monogomy has nothing to do with it. It doesn't matter how many women your father "slept" with, you only inherit from your actual mother. And vice versa. |
