Everybody is questioning the hot dogeness of the hot dogs....
Malaysia to ban 'hot dogs' for sounding unislamic

Muslim tourists to the country were worried that the hot dogs did not abide by Muslim dietary laws.

We must, perforce, query the Earl of Sandwich. Or at least put this as a Question to the House of Lords.

It is a filling held between bread, so yes it is a variety of sandwich. Now whether "sammich" includes a hot dog (wiener or frankfurter) is another matter.

It's difficult for me to think of hot dogs or hamburgers as sandwiches. And as noted above, they are definitely not SAMMICHES.

I remember when I was a kid, older men would always order a Hamburger Sandwich and a cup of coffee. That fascinated me of course.

Which reminds me that when I was a kid, people used to call it "pizza pie".

A "sammich" requires a protein which is sliced.

My-o, My oh

Pizza Pie-oh

And then there's that Wiener Wagon…

Nope, sammiches are something else.

But one more thought… one could slice the hotdog in half (lengthwise) leaving a little bit of casing to hold the two halves together. Two such constructions would fit on a piece of bread…

Hot dog sammich.
