B) He's wrong. The cheap LEDs don't put out any red light. He'd probably look normal.

Sodium security lights make you look orange.
Why does he look orange in bright white sunlight?

It’s “OK” but you could do better when looking at news/politics. They aren’t terribly serious there.

Trump: Personal vanity so extreme he erroneously pushes federal policy that hurts the environment and creates higher energy costs. And he can't even apply the makeup correctly nor realize why it looks the way it does.

Sure, but they're surface "news" at best, which opens them up to either posting exaggerations bereft of context, or just snippets that don't support one view or another.
In my WaPo example, the paper apparently made the effort to reach out to one of the few people who would have direct knowledge of Trump's makeup regimen, and got him to explain why-and-how Trump does it, with an anecdote (and the result.) They also quoted a few photographers who simply explain how lighting color temp affects subjects.
All of that helps to better shed light, so to speak, on why his bizarre claim is what it is. More to the point, it also highlights what differentiates journalism from just posting headlines, which may or may not be a selling feature for potential readers (you can lead a horse to water, but ... )
