And once again, the old MacBook Air started after I unplugged and replugged the battery. - space-time - 01-10-2021 I do have a new battery from OWC on order. Only if Larry's elves would move their butts and put in the mail, order has been pending for 2 days. Anyway, Mother in law let the battery drain and then she was not able to restart it. Second time this happened. First time I assumed it was dead so I took the SSD out. Purchased an OWC to put the SSD in. Already $8o invested in this machine. After I figured it it would start, I put the SSD back in and she used the machine for about a week, until it happened again. This time I did the exact same thing: charged the battery, tried to reset everything, SMC, zap PRAM, keep power button pressed for a long time. Nothing worked. The machine appeared dead, like DEAD. Like there was no battery in it. So I opened it, unplugged the battery, put the battery connector back, and then it started. Battery was already full. I have a battery from OWC on order as mentioned at the beginning of the post. meanwhile, I use the machine, and it works fine. I will try to avoid draining the battery. System info says the battery is OK Battery Information: Re: And once again, the old MacBook Air started after I unplugged and replugged the battery. - p8712 - 01-10-2021 space-time wrote: 25th amendment the battery! Re: And once again, the old MacBook Air started after I unplugged and replugged the battery. - JoeH - 01-10-2021 The condition of "Normal" does not necessarily mean all is okay with that battery. It has over 700 cycles, and is that 47% of capacity with the charge attached? Basically that "Normal" is about like the Disk Utiliy showing the SMART status of a disk as OK when utilities that look deeper will clearly show it is starting to fail. Basically from your other post this is a 7 year old MBA, and no mention of the battery having been replaced before. Any readings you get off the battery are probably suspect, and it could have cells marginally close to going into reverse voltage. It has lived past normal expectations for a LiIon battery. Re: And once again, the old MacBook Air started after I unplugged and replugged the battery. - space-time - 01-10-2021 OMG I posted this on the wrong side. I spent way too much time of the political forum these days. Sorry. it has 47% because i was using it for a few hours. It started at 100%. Yes, original 7 year old battery, so I am trying to document the problem properly with the old battery, so that I can test it with the new battery next week.
