Derek Chauvin will be sentenced this afternoon. - Lemon Drop - 06-25-2021
Prosecution asked for 30 years. Standard is 12, he's expected to get 20 to 25.
We'll see what the judge decided.

Shaila Dewan
Judge A. Cahill sentenced Derek Chauvin to serve 10 years longer than the presumptive sentence for his offense. That means the aggravating factors, including abuse of power, added 10 years to his sentence.

I agree. Though it was less than what the Floyd family or prosecutors asked for. Since it is incredibly rare for a police officer to be held accountable at all for murdering a civilian, I am relieved that the judge imposed a harsher sentence.

I was appalled by the comments of Chauvin's mother. You can see how he turned put this way. No remorse except for themselves.

To me, it almost sounded as if she was trying to claim he was still innocent of the crime. Very delusional.
And the lack of remorse, struck me as a form of pathological narcissism, an inability to think of anyone else's feelings or considerations but one's own.
