If I need to replace my dishwasher what do you recommend and why? - Harbourmaster - 08-26-2023 My 3yo Whirlpool model WDT710PAHZ dishwasher has stopped working… no water spraying from the spray arms. I have a service tech coming on Monday to diagnose the trouble which I believe is a failed pump. Parts are about $120 if this is the problem and I’m sure I am capable of doing the work but… If the diagnosis is something more I will likely be looking to replace the machine with something new. I’m currently leaning towards Bosch but please let me hear your thoughts. Re: If I need to replace my dishwasher what do you recommend and why? - Wags - 08-26-2023 I’ve had good luck with my Bosch. A lot quieter than the one I replaced. Re: If I need to replace my dishwasher what do you recommend and why? - Numo - 08-26-2023 If you wind up getting a new DW, I recommend one with a top silverware rack. Very handy! So far, we’ve been happy with our LG. Re: If I need to replace my dishwasher what do you recommend and why? - sekker - 08-26-2023 Bosch. We just did a comprehensive review for our new house. Bosch with the new drying system looks like the clear winner and will be what we buy if the 10 year old Samsung in our new place sucks. Re: If I need to replace my dishwasher what do you recommend and why? - Cary - 08-26-2023 I just bought (this week) a Bosch 800 series. Costco has a special on the one with a handle, HD has a sale on the one with the recessed handle/pocket. Best Buy has a clearance on last year’s model with handle. I bought an open box one for $700. Re: If I need to replace my dishwasher what do you recommend and why? - S. Pupp - 08-26-2023 Spent $700 on a GE in February. It’s been serviced repeatedly already for a door that won’t stay shut. First “it’s the latch,” then “it’s the hinges,” and now “it’s your house.” That last one is one heck of a cop-out. I can’t recommend GE or their service department. Re: If I need to replace my dishwasher what do you recommend and why? - RAMd®d - 08-26-2023 Based solely on reviews I've read over time (and my purchase of a Miele vacuum) my vote would be for Bosch or Miele. Jobs chose Miele for the family washer and dryer. This article talks about the Jobs' family discussion as to what to buy — American vs foreign. https://medium.com/@askadork/celebrity-endorsements-steve-jobs-loves-miele-washing-machines-more-476522640989 This is from a site called Celebrity Endorsements, but I think that's taking a lot of liberty with the content of the original article. Re: If I need to replace my dishwasher what do you recommend and why? - clay - 08-26-2023 We've loved the Bosch 500 (?) series that we got 1.5 years ago to replace a 40 year old GE model. Super quiet, does a great job. Can't imagine it will last 40 years like the last one, but really liking it at the moment. Re: If I need to replace my dishwasher what do you recommend and why? - PeterB - 08-26-2023 I know everyone here seems to love Bosch, but I'm very happy with my KitchenAid. Part of it is how you load things in the KitchenAid, part of it is that the parts are shared between Whirlpool and KitchenAid, such that finding replacement parts wouldn't be a problem (and I can use all the old accessories I had from my Whirlpool in the KitchenAid). Also, I know Bosch has gotten better on this point, but I really wanted something that had a heating element at the bottom for drying. If anyone's curious, the KitchenAid I ended up with is this one, very highly rated: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nP2j_4GFTew https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H7aE_i7Xkw Edit: in re-reading my post, I forgot to mention one VERY important deciding factor for me personally. I needed something that would definitely have completely removable racks, so that I could use the dishwasher to fit extremely large items. Really easy to remove the racks in the KitchenAid.
