Time Machine problem - richorlin - 01-16-2010 I've been using Time Machine successfully since it became a part of Leopard. However, since upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6.2, Time Machine has been a problem. The same external firewire drive that I have been using all along seems to unmount and the Time Machine backup fails. TM worked okay in Snow Leopard up until 10.6.2. I tried a different drive and am experiencing the same problem. Re: Time Machine problem - MacArtist - 01-16-2010 The problem I have been experiencing with my external TM drive has been that when the computer is put to sleep, it will fail to mount and Time Machine fails. If I unmount the drive before I put it to sleep (using the "sleep" command from the menu bar), it will mount correctly and go through the Time Machine process correctly. This is a Firewire 800 drive. I did not have this problem before upgrading to Snow Leopard. Re: Time Machine problem - Article Accelerator - 01-16-2010 It looks to me like an OS FireWire bug: http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2136580&start=0&tstart=0 There may be a 'work-around' solution here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2156546&tstart=0 Hopefully, 10.6.3 will provide a permanent fix. Re: Time Machine problem - MacArtist - 01-17-2010 Thanks for the info, AA. |
