Time Machine problem
#1
I've been using Time Machine successfully since it became a part of Leopard. However, since upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6.2, Time Machine has been a problem. The same external firewire drive that I have been using all along seems to unmount and the Time Machine backup fails. TM worked okay in Snow Leopard up until 10.6.2. I tried a different drive and am experiencing the same problem.

The problem I have been experiencing with my external TM drive has been that when the computer is put to sleep, it will fail to mount and Time Machine fails.

If I unmount the drive before I put it to sleep (using the "sleep" command from the menu bar), it will mount correctly and go through the Time Machine process correctly.

This is a Firewire 800 drive. I did not have this problem before upgrading to Snow Leopard.

It looks to me like an OS FireWire bug:

There may be a 'work-around' solution here:

Hopefully, 10.6.3 will provide a permanent fix.
