Original 1984 Macintosh 128k M0001 - IN ORIGINAL BOX

The case was "signed" by the development team. Were all of the 128K Macintoshes signed back then or is this a unique item?

They weren't really signed. The signatures were etched into the mold, so they were part of the casting on all of the procudction 128s and 512s. If I recall, the signatures were partly wiped out on the Plus when the case was revamped for the SCSI mini-DIN connectors, and were gone completely on the SE and later. Every seller seems to blow their horn that the particular Mac they're selling has these signatures as if the team signed them, but they all had them, cast in, not signed.

Here's a bit more history about them.

I did think some remained in the SE, but it's been a really long time since I've been inside an SE. Some searches seems to confirm this, but there are also a lot of people who misidentify the names of the various compact mac models.

I ebayed one a few years ago complete with the original box, but not packing materials. I think I got a couple hundred for it. Considering it was only $10 at the Goodill, I felt like I got a pretty good return on my investment. No regrets.
