Bush bails out............again

Those F-150's and similar vehicles are moving off the dealer lots because they are offering big discounts. I have heard ads on radio and TV for as much as $8-10,000 off in this area.

>>>That's one interpretation. Some would say consumers are told what they want through advertising and like the lemmings they are, will rush out and buy something they don't need nor really want.

Then advertise some more, and make the lemmings buy more of what they don't want. Why did the advertising stop working?

>>>Tell Paulson to get off his a•• and tell the banks to loan the money!

Who are they going to loan money to? They are in trouble because they ran out of people who could afford the loans, then they ran out of people who couldn't afford the loans. No one can afford the loans, so they would just have to continue to give money away to those who can't pay it back. kj.

I just read in Car and Driver that F-150 was the top-selling [non-fleet I'd assume] vehicle in the US since '91....but this year it has fallen into 5th place.

Maybe because the F-150 averages 16 mpg. The original Model T Ford averaged 17 and that was 100 years ago. Must be true I read it here ... or maybe I read it there.

The F-150 , as well as the other full size pick ups are the backbone of the trades -
carpenters, masons, materials delivery, and a wide variety of the guys that build things.

They are not currently building things ... so no new trucks. The math is simple.

I'd wager less than half those are sold to people in the trades, my S-I-L owns one. He's headmaster at an elementary/middle school, my daughter teaches at the high school and they have one 3-year old.

The Volvo SUV is almost justifiable, the Ford?

Detroit certainly isn't in the habit of building anything I'd want. Well, at least not for 50+ years.

I didn't realize you and I had so much common ground.
