Jehovah's Witnesses showed up at the door for first time in 15 years

I know this may sound rather extreme, but I've discovered a method of dealing with them that seems to be pretty effective. Here's what you do:
When you answer the door and see it's Jehova's Witnesses, you tell them "no thank you." Everybody smiles (optional) and they leave.

Man. You live on the edge.
Good advice, though.

I don't understand why seemingly normal people have to back themselves into a corner with such an offbeat version of a religion that is strange in itself.

"Seemingly" is the critical word here.

Black has it right. They only want to talk if you want to talk also. So be polite, honest, and they will be on their way. I always tell them that I admire their work, that I attend such and such church, and wish them the best. They smile and off they go. Can't be easy for them either.

Prince occasionally does home visits. Not sure if he will sing during these visits but you could always ask him the true meaning behind "little red corvette".

Y'all should be so lucky, like we are, to live within 4 miles of a JW training center. On weekends there's
probably 500-600 cars there and then they start coming out into the neighborhoods in the afternoons.
At one time there was an informal request that they not solicit the homes in the area more than once a
year but lately we've been having them come by 3-4 times per year.
