ITunes - jumps to next song after playing only a few seconds

I don't understand. My iTunes library is loaded on my 24" iMac. I have done "repair permissions" in the Disk Utility, also just loaded the software update to iTunes version 10.5.2 and the problem still exists. As suggested, I opened some of the problem songs in QuickTime player and they played just fine, so it wouldn't seem to be corrupted song files.

Permissions-repair accomplishes nothing.

Run the Disk Utility and click the "Verify Disk" button.

Did run "Verify Disk" and it is okay. Problem with some songs skiping to the next sond after a few seconds still exists, even after upgrading to the latest iTunes.

'Might just be corrupt file-headers or tags showing the wrong duration.

Try updating the tags. Right-click or control-click on one of the problem-files, choose "convert ID 3 tags" and change the tag setting to v2.3.

Next, I'd try converting a few of those files to AIFF. If the converted files work then use them instead of your bad tracks. If the converted files have the same problem then assume that the files are unrecoverable and replace the bad tracks from the source (or re-download them or whatever).
