I think it's all about data-collection and sales of our personal info rather than any respect for the risk associated with drugs.

If they really gave such a damn about public safety, why not card people buying bleach, turkey fryers or bug spray?
It's getting to that point. I once got asked for ID at a big box store when I wanted to buy paper targets. Yes, I said PAPER targets! What, they're worried some minor might not know what to do with them and may get a paper cut? 8-)

Showed up for court both high and in possession. He could use help, either that or just doesn't give a ...

Anyway, Washington state has an excellent initiative, 502, going before the legislature this year, or possibly directly to voters. It would legalize possession of small amounts of marijuana for people over 21, regulate distribution, tax the sales and use the revenue for drug abuse prevention programs.

A guy showed up in court in my hometown for drug possession in a t-shirt that said "Do I Look Like I Give a F***? The judge told him to go to the bathroom and turn it inside out. He was in there a long time, so the cops went in to check on him. He was doing his drug of choice and had his pockets full of them. Idiot.
