I'm sick of everything being upgraded and costing more. I'm about to the point I'm thru buying anything and will just enjoy what I've got. About the only app I've downloaded is a Free solitary and KOI

I'm right there with you.

Funny thing, even after upgrading my cell phone, I'm still using the old model as much as ever. Email, basic web browsing, chatting, photos, and even some eBook reading works quite well and the battery life is better on the old phone than the new phone. Since my SIM card is in the new phone, I use that phone when I'm on the go and the old phone when I'm at home. Makes me wonder if I really should have upgraded after all. (Then I remember the new phone has much faster data speeds and the interface is quite slick.)

I still have iOS 2 on my original Touch. It's basically been relegated to being a jukebox for work. I have it in a Logitech dock with speakers. I haven't used it for anything else for a few years.

I'm running 5.1 on two 32GB 3rd gen ipod touches and it works fine. Ran iOS 4 on a 2nd gen and it was fine.

A new custom made iOS 5 replica has surfaced in the Apple ecosystem that allows users of older iOS devices to get the same user-experience as their counterparts with iDevices running on the latest version of the platform. The new offering, dubbed the Whited00r 5.1 , apparently allows users of the iPod Touch 1G or 2G, as well as those with an iPhone 2G or 3G model to get the user-experience of iOS 5.
However, there is a downside too, which may prevent users from taking advantage of Whited00r 5.1. Once the custom OS is installed on their older generation Apple device, users will no longer be able to access the App Store, though they will have access to the third-party unofficial Cydia app store. In addition, they will also have to do without the Notification Center onboard.
