I watched the entire speech. He discussed topics such as budget cuts, troop deployments, health care, suicide, and of course it included the usual sort of patriotic stuff that all Presidents include. Frankly, I don't think it was the kind of speech that one would go all foot stompy and cheering about even if it was a civilian crowd. Injured soldier? YAY Congress threatening gigantic budget cut? YAY Suicide? YAY
I did wonder about the soldiers behind him, my assumption is that they were told to not react with positive or negative responses due to being on camera, since not a single one of them did.
I would love to hear from someone who was there because I truly believe that the acoustics of the place made the crowd seem quieter than it really was. There was plenty of responses for sure. There's no way that the crowd did not make a lot of noise following the statement about America being the greatest country in the world, so I am thinking an airplane hanger is far different than a stadium or convention hall when it comes to acoustics.
