Whether or not this is true, there is a LOT of money to be made by Apple by selling beats headphones. Just sayin'.
Bottom line: Apple wanted the whole ball of wax, for whatever reason.
That all makes sense.
Based on that I see two possible scenarios…
Apple incorporates the service and leaves the headphone business as is thereby raking in tons of money, much to the chagrin of Apple champions.
Or Apple incorporates the service and revamps the headphone business thereby alienating the youth/beats demographic to the cheers of Apple champions, and losing tons of money, though the service side makes some profit.
I'm not sure what middle ground there'd be, but the purchase price and potential revenue and revenue loss are a lot to risk.
