I bought an SE 128 for $250 back in April from our sponsor here, they may still have them?

Barring a new phone, I'd also just obtain an OEM Apple battery and have a qualified installer do the work. Seems simple enough. OR send it to Apple via link above if she can make it a few days without the phone. Get a cheapo burner in the meantime?

I'd do the 'send it to Apple' route. When I did it with my 6S it really didn't take that long, I think the turnaround from the time I sent it to when I received it was under a week. It would also be less expensive then buying a new, larger phone.

I vote for just replacing the battery. It is pretty straight forward to do yourself or take it to your local "fix" store. If you don't need newer & bigger - don't!
