I thought the iPhone SE (2016) was GSM compatible?
#1
I got a used iPhone SE (2016) that I was intending to use as a second line and when i looked it up it said it was GSM and CDMA compatible. I get the SIM card for the service (which happens to be GSM) and it shows “NO SERVICE” even after multiple troubleshooting steps. The customer rep I talked to said the phone was NOT GSM compatible i which is weird because it activated the phone number, etc when i put the SIM in....so......I’m confused....??

What's the model number of this SE (Settings>General>About)?

Here are the different models and the bands they support, what carrier are you trying to use? Any chance that the phone is "carrier locked"?

There certainly are 2016 SE models that work on GSM, I have several on AT&T, they were purchased as "Unlocked".

Looks like it's the A1723 Sprint model, and it won't work on Verizon's 4G network. Do you know what network TracFone is using for your SIM?

It is beginning to look like the phone may be carrier locked, it should work on t-Mobile.

Original owner could have not finished contract or did not get the phone unlocked after finishing their contract. Or the phone is stolen or was unclaimed lost & found.
