YMMV of course, but Carvana bought my deceased FIL's 2012 Lexus for ~$8k more than the local Lexus dealer was offering (or, put another way, they offered nearly 150% of the dealer's offer).
I was also uncertain, but for me at least, it came off without a hitch. They showed up one day with a big flatbed and a check.

I will definitely be calling Carvana tomorrow just to make sure there is no wiggle room, as far as the title.
It has taken so long, over three months, to get all the paperwork I need I just wish I didn’t have to wait even longer to get this done, but for $3,700 difference, I guess it would be worth it. I doubt the offer would go down enough to not make it worth my while to do it. Thanks for all the advice. ![]() Whippet, Whippet Good

A while back, I read that Carvana (and other such services) got "beat up" when people sold them cars the sellers had leased! Apparently, some companies were in such a rush to acquire inventory that they failed to perform proper due diligence.
As for the dealer offer, are they going to spring "conditions" on you at the last minute that will result in a lower price than they first promised? I wouldn't put it past a dealer to do so.

I meant a value based tax/fee/penalty applicable to intra-family transfers, in case that wasn't immediately clear; though in some states there's also no, or a minimal paperwork/administrative fee for the transfer. And as others have continued to note, the goal was to get to Carvana as efficiently as possible. == |
