Hi everyone,
I have someone who's been using Quicken 2007 and just upgraded to Monterey. Obviously, Quicken 2007 isn't going to work. So, he obtained a copy of Quicken 2017, the last non-subscription version of Quicken, with the hopes of moving to it. Unfortunately, he's come across a snag.
Apparently, Quicken 2017 cannot convert Quicken 2007 data files. It needs to use the Quicken Online system to do it. And, unfortunately, the Quicken Online system no longer supports Quicken 2017. So, he tried exporting the data from Quicken 2007 as a .qif file, thinking Quicken 2017 would be able to import it. Nope. Quicken 2017 can't read the file because of a text encoding issue.
Now, he wants to get his hands on a copy of Quicken 2015, with the hope they'll convert the file. Then he'll convert it into Quicken 2017 since it can open Quicken Quicken 2015 and Quicken 2016 data files. Supposedly.
I told him he needs to either move to the newest flavor of Quicken, sign up for the online services, convert the file and call it done. Or, switch to a different non-subscription app like Moneydance, iBank or similar.
For giggles, I actually opened the Quicken 2007 generated QIF file in Moneydance. It converted the data without an issue. I even exported the data from Moneydance into a QIF file, which Quicken 2017 was abel to access and convert, too. But, for safety's sake, he wants to stick with Quicken and use Quicken's own tools for the conversions.
Anyone know where I can obtain Quicken 2015? That would be the next step in converting his data file from Quicken 2007 to a newer flavor.
FWIW, he's got 25+ years of data stored in Quicken. He doesn't want to lose access to it.
Robert
