Regardless of your actual politics, we have people who care about doing a good job, performing capably and delivering a quality product or service to a customer. On the other, we have people who are happy selling slapdash snake oil and couldn't care less who it harms so long as they eke out their short term profit. People who put effort into good works and don't necessarily care whether they are specially called out and acknowledged for it, or would-be narcissist influencers who can't think beyond "me me me" (note that I consider high-volume influencers generally to be actual professionals, as their success depends on delivering for their fans and they consistently do this) I could go on, and on, but the core of our modern conflict, while perhaps having a good v evil root is more abstracted to society breaking down if everyone is clamoring for attention on themselves at all times. There has to be an audience, a pool of people for whom the show exists. Civilization means sharing - to a greater or lesser degree - the norms and behaviors, resources and protections, more fairly across everyone participating rather than allow their accumulation to a few.

this is really it and it is unnerving that sooooo many people do not understand that societies are built upon the acceptance of things with which they disagree (at times, vehemently), but will not kill them. the "other side" has been weaponized to believe that these "things" will kill them, and that is what we are fighting against. and, yes, even the left has to come to terms with things *they* do not like but which will not kill them. |
