I live in one of the reddest counties in a red state, where most white women vote R regardless of education. People tend to assume I'm R unless they know me.

Demographic trends matter, but stereotyping is never good. Unfortunately our people connections have weakened so much that we are not bothering to get to know people.

Stereotyping just serves to further divide. I've got lots of White men as friends without degrees who sit on the local Dem committees with me as well as others who don't fit into categories. I get the generalized stat, but if it's good not to stereotype those people we like, it also is true in reverse.
