american arrogance. just like the VP saying "Chinese peasants".... which trickles down.
China isnt a nation full of fools, but half of America thinks they are 50% rice farmers and 50% tedious factory workers making cheap stuff.
Which if course, is far from the actual truth.
ombligo is hitting the nail on the head -- it's 1970s Japan all over again... or mid 90s BMW/Audi/MB or even 10 years ago with the Model 3.
There are dozens factories all over the USA building Japanese, Korean and European cars... that didn't exist 20 years ago. China is next. Hundreds of thousands of employees and billions in revenue in the USA.
American cars (not counting tesla) have done little in innovation... cause they think they don't need to. You can only rest on "truck" sales for so long...
