We had a $21 billion surplus in January.

WE, as in all of us, not WE, as in this household.

I did, however, SAVE $21 billion by not ordering the aircraft carrier task group I was considering.

I guess it was xmas?? This is a tax vs. spending, not a trade surplus. (that will probably never happen!)

And to get there, the middle class spent at twice the rate that they were earning, going even deeper in debt and thus speeding up the transfer of wealth to the rich. Good thinking folks.

If only they could put the $21 billion surplus back where they got it, you know, like education, Medicare, Social Services, college financial aid, or feeding the poor...

this was just receipts in vs money spent.

No Robbing peter (b) to pay paul (f.)

And it was not trade balance, it was budget $$$.

basically taxes collected.

That trade balance is only going to change when we discover more oil in our 51st state.
(I heard we're going to make all of British Columbia the 51st state just to shorten the pipeline.)

as long as the lawmakers have the awesome retirement bennies from their elected position, I don't think they really give a damn.

One term as president, and you are set for life, regardless of how crappy of a job you do.
