Should I call animal control?

It's amazing how many people don't hear their dog barking, though the neighbors can't get any sleep.

I always feel that we have the crappiest built house and our barking dog neighbors must have much better built houses.

When I complain about barking noises, I mean we keep all doors and windows shut. And every room has a fan (turned ON) for white noise to help aid in muting.

THEN and ONLY THEN do I start getting agitated. And I am half-deaf (sic). My left ear does not work. So, let me repeat...

I am bothered by dogs barking..

1. through the walls
2. with windows shut
3. with fans on
4. while lying 'good ear down' on my pillow.

And I still hear and get awakened. Sad

I can only DREAM of being able to have a window open and not hear something somewhere.

Now, then, the Harleys and BOOM BOOM thumper bass radio/stereos only complete the total inundation of noise pollution.

I love our mostly barkless dog.

While tossing some delicious treats over the fence give the dog some comforting words. And hopefully he will understand that he is not left alone because there is a 'friend' nearby on the other side of the fence. Good luck!

In my local jurisdiction, the local Animal Control keeps "Banker's Hours" and, won't respond nights and weekends. Definitely call them when the problem occurs during working hours so that they are aware of the problem and it is documented. After hours, call the police (use a non emergency number if one is available) and report the problem. If other neighbors are bothered by this urge them to report it also. The more complaints received from different people, the more seriously the problem will be treated (although, in the grand scheme of things, this is a small but very annoying problem). Make an audio recording and offer to play it for the dog's owner. They truly might not be aware of the problem at all (or of just how bad it is). If that's the case, they might take appropriate remedial action when presented with the evidence. Calmly presenting said evidence with a group of neighbors who are affected and upset would be more effective than going it alone. There is strength in numbers.

record the the offensive sounds, and play them back on your 1000 watt stereo w/ 15" speakers pointed at their house whenever the urge strikes...
