Anyone having trouble with Software Update in SL?
#1
It quits unexpectedly on launch. I have a MBP 2.4 Core 2 Duo running 10.6.2.
SL is also not letting me run "Mail", says its an old version. (4.2 (1077/1076))

not typical behavior. fix permissions on verify the drive. just ask if you're unfamiliar.

Thanks, tried that. I also trashed the mail and SU prefs...

Launch Console and clear its screen. Then try launching Mail or running SU. When they crash, Console's window might give a clue about a problem with a file buried somewhere.

For Mail, version 4.2 (1077) is what comes with Snow Leopard. Don't know why your SL expected the 1076 build. You might try running the 10.6.2 Combo Updater again, but if Mail isn't a part of it nothing will improve.

Trying to think of something that would preclude me from recommending an Archive and Install for you. Anything more about your setup or how you arrived to where you are you can share?
