I recommend watching or listening to the Women's Soccer Finals right now

That's one of the dumbest things you've ever written. You don't need to stretch into nonsense mode to get across the point that you don't like soccer. You and freeradical have turned the whole thread into a we hate soccer thread so we clearly get it.

Another nonsense statement. First off, every ball game has turnovers where possession of the ball switches to the other team and the direction of play reverses. Basketball probably has a lot more of them than soccer and looks much more like your depiction than soccer does. Second, simply kicking it back the other way is called "bad soccer strategy". Although that is how 8-year olds play it, they soon learn that a good team doesn't do that because soccer is a passing and possession game.

Why is it that the soccer meme carriers feel so strongly about a game that they don't watch that they find the need to sink into absurdity in order to denigrate it?

Thanks Dennis.

Think of what Japan has been through this year. Think of the little bit of joy this win has delivered. Sheer beauty, pure joy.
The Beautiful Game.

So now I hate soccer? Ok, this is where I get off this train. If you don't think that the economic status of the rest of the world along with the very low equipment barrier significantly contribute to the popularity of soccer then you are fooling yourself. Even manlove said that earlier in the thread.
