Republican Candidates Dismiss Criticism of Romney as Mormon

Excuse me for asking this, but why the heck should I care about what this guy worships? He can worship the Great Evil Satan™ for all I care. That's not what's relevant to this particular job position.

What IS relevant is the fact that he cannot seem to hold any one political position without changing as is politically expedient, or that I would trust him with running our economy, about as much as I would my local used car salesman.

Not to mention his history as a "venture capatalist", one who added greatly to unemployment rolls by dismembering companies he took over, selling off the parts while enriching himself enormously.

These are issues that effect voters, not the nature of his underwear.

Good on the candidates that are saying that Romney's Mormonism should not be an issue. Do they feel the same way about Muslims? Do they feel the same way about atheists? If not, why not?

Because it helps divide the Republicans. Normally, overlooking someone's religion is a sign of enlightenment which is the sole territory of liberals, but not this time.

Of course it is, but I suspect that what they are really doing is reminding all that his is a Mormon. There are LOTS of ultra conservatives that WILL NOT vote for a mormon - period.

And once the nomination is secured, the nominee will make an opening statement at the debates: "I do not believe that Mr. Obama is a Kenyan, Muslim usurper!"
