MacResource Forums Feature Request

In all honesty I believe that what we have now is what we will continue to have. The IT guys have a full plate and the forum understandably isn't a priority for them, other than keeping it running. I'm still holding out hope for implementation of a mobile version template that I requested a few months back. There was some interest at the time, but I'm not holding my breath.

How about moving the forum to a user-managed/user-owned site?

I wouldn't think that Larry has any plans of giving it up after the amount of work and money that has been invested.

Well, I don't have the overview to know whether it's a net plus for OWC once you subtract the headaches.
Will have to infer from this comment that it is.

I never said it was a headache. I said it was not a priority for IT. As it is right now it runs smoothly, looks good, and is fairly self sufficient in that it needs very little admin attention, so it is not a headache for them.

How about a button that will blow up the computer of anyone who posts spam.

Miscommunication/misinterpretation alert. I never said you said it was a headache. But considering the frequent drama and Larry threatening to close down the political side, and having no way to gauge to what degree OWC might benefit from hosting it, I was expressing that I don't know if the forum is a net plus in the eyes of the current ownership.

I do think it is less than ideal that we have a situation where possibly beneficial new features are not being considered because the forum is not a priority to the management.

I would like to see the return of Larry's ads.

I would like to have a one-line sig at the bottom of every post and a reduction in the size of picture sigs to help offset the extra space taken up. If it is a long post and I can't see the top of it, I often forget who it's by.

That would be very nice.

If you use multiple computers, there's no way to see either which threads you've posted to or which threads you have already read. The red 'new' shows up across multiple devices but the browser link-followed color obviously does not.

Other forums I use visually show already-read and posted-to across multiple devices.

But I get the feeling those features are not in the Phorum DNA.
