Seeing Google at $770 got me to wondering if it would split soon...at what point does a stock split?...how high can it go?...
It made me wonder, what's the most expensive stock per share?

I think rather than the absolute price of a stock, that you should look at the P/E ratio of a stick and compare that to the stock of other companies in the same industry group.

the old theory was that splitting a stock makes it more accessible to smaller buyers and inversely, NOT splitting it keeps the rabble out and also speculators. Not so sure how effective this is these days.
A company can do as they wish - there are no rules governing when a stock MUST split.

I think there used to be extra fees involved if you bought stocks in units of less than one lot.

Which is more like buying into a fund. Berkshire Hathaway has holdings in dozens of companies like Geico, MS, Apple, etc.

Buy class B. It is cheaper. It split to making it more "available" I guess was his reasoning.
