What a waste of police resources.

You'd think that if you were going to put the word "news" in the name of your website, you'd want to have more than just one side of a story.
CNN and FOX would be prime examples of news outlets that expose all sides and perspectives of an issue or story.
That's why I get my news exclusively via Yahoo.

What the Hell is wrong with idiots in Illinois ? "Free Speech". Helloooooo.

Agreed.. point the guy at the ACLU. This isn't a 'religious' issue. It's strictly free speech.

Apropos Rock Island IL.... Jerry™'s neighbor was practicing free speech.... and yet forumites seemed overwhelmingly in favor of using various means to stifle him.

I find those creeps that insist on washing your windshield at an intersection more disturbing than someone preaching.

All you need to do is attach razor blades to your windshield wipers and turn the suckers on high when you arrive at the stoplight. They should leave your vehicle alone right quick.

“I went on a street corner in downtown Rock Island, and was blocking no traffic, [and I used] no amplification,” he recalled. “I preached for about twenty minutes and handed out some tracts, and then the police came and told me that I was disturbing the peace — that I was raising my voice, and that I was cussing [by using the word 'Hell'.] They said that what I was doing was illegal, and that if I continued, they would arrest me...

...he returned to Rock Island in April 2012.

“I did pretty much the same thing: I preached about twenty minutes, and I handed out a few tracts,” Johnson explained. “[W]hen I got in my car to leave, … and as I was getting ready to start the car, the police zoomed up and turned on their lights, and told me to get out of the car.”

“They pretty much said the same thing,” he continued. “They said, ‘You’re not supposed to raise your voice or scare anybody and tell people they’re going to die.’ I said, ‘Well, what if that building’s on fire and I raise my voice and tell people if they don’t leave, they’re going to die? Is that wrong?’””

I don't think it was just the use of the word "hell." It sounds like he's a d!ck, he was harassing people and he repeatedly made a public nuisance of himself.

Some cities have "soap box" laws, letting people stand on a crate in any public space and say whatever they'd like.

He should move to one of those cities.

He could relocate to a soapbox in Hyde Park.
