Use iPhone as Bluetooth Transmitter for an external source?
#1
My Google-fu is weak today. At the gym, our treadmills have a line out that allows you to select audio feeds from TVs scattered around the gym. I've destroyed a few earbuds while exercising and being tethered is just a hassle. Is there a way to have the line out feed into my iphone and then have the iphone transmit the sound to my Bluetooth headphones? Is there a simpler solution?

Maybe something like this will work:

Lots of variations of these devices.

Some quick searching indicates that an iPhone won't do that. One solution would be wireless headphones w/ line in.

you will forget it, leave and then lose it, but Bluetooth transmitters are cheap. so you can plug that into the jack and then use your BT headphones directly. maybe attach to your locker key or something.

I could be wrong, but that seems to be a receiver. I am not sure how it is supposed to help the original poster. I think the one posted by Robert M is a transmitter, so that could send audio to a pair of Bluetooth headphones.
