Not that this surprises me in the least, but it's kind of sickening for Apple to come out and say it.

I don't see the problem.

Should Apple not have mentioned the battery replacement program cost them money?

Should Apple not have offered the the battery replacement program in the first place?

Apple should have been very clear in advance about their battery degradation methodology and how it works. They need to better communicate with their customers. Maybe they learned something, maybe not.

It seems to me they're being very clear with their stockholders, i.e. full discloser? Or they're vying for some sympathy, saying doing the right thing cost them money?

Either way, batteries have to be replaced, eventually, and that some people would rather do that and keep what they have. Apparently they thought that needed to be explained to some people.

I'm part of that problem. It never occurred to me that one day, I might see the 6S as a 'small' phone it Apple's line up, eschewing big 'Phones for my SE.

I want a phone that's

1) waterproof
2) small enough to easily fit in my pocket
3) has a replaceable battery*

Can't have everything.

*meaning I can easily pop it open and put a second battery in. Not take 10 minutes to put in a new battery every two years.
