Got my trackpad to work again in my 2009 MBP.

I took out the pillow-shaped NewerTech replacement battery Confusedmiley-shocked003:

Anyone know what size Torx the trackpad takes? Is it a T8? Also the 5 pointed star screwdriver for those batteries?

I thought the batteries used a 3 pointed "Y" shaped screw head. And since you needed to removed them to get the battery out, what tool did you actually use?

Yeah, Tri-lobe.

These screws were/are 5 pointed. The 3rd party battery came with a 5 pointed screwdriver, but was 1 size too small. Was able to grab the outside of the screw head with small needle nosed pliers and get them to turn. Might be replacement screws from the NewerTech battery, but then how would the eBay vendor know that anyway?

15” ? My memory and ifixit say the 13” MBP take a tri-lobe, but I have vague memories of needing a pentalobe for a 2009 or 2010 15”.

13” : https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro...ement/1332

Ah yes, the 15” is a pentalobe!

Congrats on the successful battery-ectomy! I rescued a white unibody MacBook last year from the same terrible disease.
