Lee Baca (may he rot in jail) was elected as a reform sheriff was he not?
He started off okay. He got into the fame of it all. Doing special favors for celebrities etc. He kinda helped legitimize Scientolgy's Narconon drug recovery program. That was weird.
His undoing was lying to the FBI about prisoner abuse. That basically took over his life. Once McDonnell took over he unleashed a broad firing and demotions spree. That's what prompted Villanueva to run.
I think Villanueva will survive to run again.

Lindsay Graham sends back a form letter saying "Go f*** yourself. I know what I'm doing," or something along those lines.
My representatives ignore the contents of the letter and send back responses saying "Democrats are ruining this country, hate Americans, and want us all to fail -- Heil Trump, Heil the GOP," or something along those lines.

Mine puts you on their mailing list as well - with no unsubscribe option.
Why do they hate us so?

Actually, I think it is better to write a Republican with your concerns than a Democrat because the Democrat most likely shares your concerns. I email my Republican rep every other month or so. I get back a canned response which I reply to either telling him he didn’t address my concern or that he is wrong and I enumerate the reasons. I never get a reply to that second email.

You can send your Republican reps a message from their website. If every Democrat in your state did that, they would at least see that there are constituents who do have an opposing view. Not sure if that means much or not, but you would at least have tried.
For some reason, Senators' web sites accept messages from anybody, even people out of the state they represent. I have on occasion written to a Senator who was not my rep if they are known for having an opinion on something that meshes with mine. For example, if it's a financial issue I'll message Elizabeth Warren in hopes her staff will put it in the "what the public thinks" pile and at least add a teeny bit of weight to it.
