1Password 6 no longer working with Chrome - time to upgrade to 7?

They tried to snag me into paying a subscription for software I previously paid for. I told them where to ram that. Really too bad.

Matt,

Any chance you can use 1Password without the browser plug-in? I've never used the browser plug-in for 1Password. The menu bar app on occasion, yes, but never the browser plug-in. Easy enough to just open the main app. If 1Password6 works for you, then I'd forgo the browser plug-in and just use the main app and/or the menu bar app and call it done. Easy peasy.

Wouldn't do LastPass. They may be great, but with subscriptions, they're roughly on par with 1PW, and then add the fact that they've had breaches and their plugin was leaking passwords at one point and they were caught using ad-network trackers in their Android app. (These were allegedly small leaks/bugs, but to my knowledge 1PW has had none of that so if I were going to pay a subscription for something that has the utility of a very VERY basic text editor + encryption, I'd continue on with 1PW.)

Considering encrypted notes in the Notes app, Apple keychain notes and PWs, KeePass.

Like many things here, how a lot of our individual workflows "work" are far different than others.

Take this browser extension. I use it 50 times a day. Others may not. So what works for one, doesn't work for all.

Here is a small example. I have 13 clients with CMS websites I login into multiple times a day. Each different, with complicated passwords set by the admin. Same URL. I hit the URL, then tap the 1PW extension... scroll to the site I want to login to... click, boom. done. total of 3 clicks.

At least that's the process in 1PW6, on the right.

1PW7/8, on the left, has now made the browser shortcut into *not* a shortcut. It got iOSed. Huge meaningless 2 letter icons. PA = PAlm beach? How is that helpful. What if I had PAlm springs and PAsadena? So I have to rename everything? And why is all the info, including the stupid icon, repeated, again n the right?

1PW wont answer me either -- years ago when I asked, they said "bummer for you, it isn't going back"

maybe bitdefender. Heard some decent things.

thanks... I skimmed over some parts where he talks bout some tech stuff, but part of his issue seems to be with security, vs functionality.

keepass is *free*... and I think everyone here has been leary of "free" software and its support --either long term or short.

It does seem to have browser extensions, and there is a page with dozens of keepass extensions, but that just seems a bit geeky for a simple manager... https://keepass.info//plugins.html

Again, 1PW6 is fine with FF for now, but will have to take a deep dive once its not...
