Great story. But I must admit I smiled when I saw the whale described as beleaguered. It may be one of the only times I've seen that word used anywhere but this forum.

My buddy runs a whale watching ship in the Monterey bay.
The thing no one ever mentions is how much whales smell. They really, really, smell bad in normal conditions and then if they decide to poop by the boat yeah that is absolutely fantastic. People running for the climate controlled passenger area, puking (even more) etc. It's great.
