I got a plan that is essentially catastrophic only. I've gone years without seeing a doctor and even if i had reason to see one once or twice i'd still be better off paying out of pocket instead of buying more insurance.
As for the IRA, I decided to go with a Roth IRA at Vanguard. I can't say that I'm terribly confident about what I'm investing in but i think it takes years to figure that out (or overconfidence?). Anyway, it makes sense to me and I'm not taking any particular "expert" too seriously so i think i'm doing okay.
