My dad was not around for much of my pre-teen and teenage years. My mom's "talk" consisted of "just keep it in your pants" ?@&!? A woman of few words. Completely worthless talk.
I was "active" just before 9th grade. Thought I was in love. I have 2 daughters; 9 year old and a 3 year old. I have talked to my 9 year old a bit when she has asked a few questions. Nothing graphic mind you. Just about being cautious. Not letting anyone hurt her. Not letting people pressure her to do things. By the time you think you should probably have "the talk" with your kids, it's probably too late.

You don't have "the talk."
You have a whole bunch of little talks beginning at a very young age so that the subject inspires neither mystery nor embarrassment. |
