Looking for a new camera...what do you think
#11
I think the biggest shortcoming in most cameras these days is that they come without a wide angle lens (i.e. 28mm equiv or shorter) rather than too little telephoto. A wide angle is generally of much more utility than a telephoto. Besides, the lack of telephoto magnification can usually be made up for with cropping, given the massive pixel counts of recent cameras. The lack of a wide angle cannot be made up for at all. Be sure you get a cam that goes at least down to 28mm, no matter what the long end of the range is.

My wife just broke her camera on the last trip. Any recommendations in the sub $200 range?

The Fujifilm F100fd is a really nice camera, 5x with 28mm and a lot of other great features. you can get it for $230, a small amount over your price limit. They also sell a J150W for much less but I don't know much about that one.

Canon makes a really nice subcompact with 28mm. I have one (SD800IS). The new one has a slightly different number (can't remember), though the subcompacts have a pretty limited telephoto end.
