So how long until an i5/i7 MacMini?

Never, unless future technology allows the i5 or i7 runs on 1/3 the power. The point of a Mini is that it is very economical in the power usage department. It's not an Intel Atom, but it's a realistic "do everything" computer. The new Mini's use 110watts, the original G4 Mini's 85watts. Because of this I don't think we'll see much of an increase over the Core2Duo range any time soon as even the highest C2D CPU's draw 65w right now. The Quads obviously go up from there.

Yep. The C2D in the mini is rated at 25W TDP.
