I've searched a lot for a "connector" that will nicely splice 2 wires together that I've sheared apart doing the same chore. I know you can put a plug on each end of the severed cord, but it seems like there ought to be some kind of a slim connector that will safely join the 2 ends and not be much thicker than the cord. Anyone seen such a thing?

I patched an extension cord once, the cut only went through one wire so I opened it up, soldered the wire back together and made judicious use of electrical and duct tape around it. For a shorter length I wouldn't bother, but this was a 100' 12ga one.
