Mitt gets Mormons to apologize for posthumous baptisms of Jews
#21
This whole conversation seems so insane to an atheist...

...so someone pretended to virtually dip dead people in water

...and this gets other people really, really mad...

Baptism in the Baptist church is full submersion, unlike a few other churched that sprinkle. No one gets accidentally baptized in a Baptist church.

I'm sorry. I meant "Methodist."

They're just upset that Jews are God's Chosen People.

After all, you can't really have a religion based on following a brown-skinned saviour when everyone knows (at least those that know Mormonism) that Jesus Christ was Lily White.

I've met Mormons who think that when Jesus appeared to the native Americans, he did so as a native American, with dark skin, face-paint, loincloth and the headdress of a chief. The whole shebang. As I understand their explanations, the cursed dark-skinned clans had intermarried with the righteous light-skinned clans for so long that they were physically indistinguishable and Jesus didn't want to upset them by reminding them too quickly of their lost legacy of white-ness.

The headdress of a Chief???

Now, I know I'm not the best Catholic in the world and my readings of the Bible were many, many years ago (including my readings of the Book Of Mormon) BUT, I don't ever recall Jesus The Christ ever taking such a measure to adorn himself with the dressings of a leader.

BTW, this is not an argumentative challenge to you, just a nearly exasperated comment on the absolute lunacy and hypocrisy of LDS.

I can accept the fact that your (our) God and your belief in that God deemed black people to have the mark of the Devil and, therefore, ineligible to enter into your church, but to suddenly say in the 20th Century that the Lord Almighty Himself has reversed his Word and changed his mind is complete and utter ridiculousness.

Just admit that you were founded and fostered by a bunch of racist white pricks and be on your merry.

It certainly is ridiculous.

Kind of like an institution that arbitrarily mandated priest celibacy.

One must realize that mandated priest celebrity (and pretty much everything about the structure of the Catholic Church) was designed to keep people in line and with the party. Straight down from the Pope, you have a classic governmental/quasi-military structure.

Otherwise, how could you expect a growing church (and greedy Pope) to build such vast holdings around the world?
