Did anyone notice how Eastwood's suit fit? I think if I had a physique like that, money like that, and was going on nation TV, I could pick out a suit that fit.
Clint Eastwood was perfect

This thread is sad and pathetic. This is the same small-minded crap that routinely gets ridiculed on this forum when it comes from the Right. So petty. It's embarrassing. I'll bet if Eastwood had done exactly the same, looking the same, acting the same in support of Obama there would be no mean-spirited cracks about his hair, his clothes, his mental state, or his class (or lack of it). Especially you, mick e, $tevie, Dennis, Lemon Drop.
I feel like I need a shower now. :barf:

Small-minded crap? Did you listen to what that old coot was on stage saying?
He spoke at the convention of one of the national parties, basically warming up the crowd for the acceptance speech of that party's nominee, which is the highlight of the presidential political season. He was the first thing people heard when they tuned in to prime time coverage, and most people only watch the final night. He made the party's first impression on the national stage. People in the Romney campaign are falling all over themselves not to admit whose idea it was to let him go on unscripted and unrehearsed, something that apparently very much surprised most of the people who run the Romney campaign. He embarrassed the man who is trying to become the President of the United States. I've never seen anything quite like it. It's great that you're a fan, he has lots of fans of his movie work. But this isn't about the movies. This is real life. PS: Enjoy your shower.

He made a fool of himself*. That is NOT my fault.
* The entire internet and half of the Republican Party agrees with me. ![]()

mick e wasn't making fun of the guy. He was just posting about how his bit of performance art perfectly defined today's republican party.

Did you see him pretend that the President of the United States was saying "Go fsck yourself"? Do you think that was a GOOD thing to do? Did you not notice he was ridiculing Obama during that entire performance? Good grief, if Eastwood wants to dish it out than he has to take it -- that's how it works. EDIT: I am making fun of the guy. And I don't apologize for it. He who lives by the sword dies by the sword.

I think he's symbolic of the out-of-touch Republican party. An old mentally unstable pasty-faced cranky rich white guy who loves guns and has a bad disposition, whose better days are way behind him, and who is symbolic of strength and character, but who, in reality, is just an old coot in a bad suit - not any sort of hero in reality. An idea that looks good on paper, but when seen in the reality of day, is an embarrassment and, in retrospect, a bone-headed idea.

Thanks for reinforcing my point. Yes: small-minded crap. $tevie, of course I watched it. I will grant you that it was awkward and strange and not what the Republicans had hoped for. And I get that you don't like his message (I don't either). My objection is to the petty and mean ridicule of an elderly man who wasn't quite up to the task, simply because he is in opposition to your politics. No way would be be seeing this thread if he'd done the same to Boehner or McConnell or GW Bush, no matter how much he flubbed. I'll assume that years from now when, say, George Cloony starts losing it, you'll be pointing and laughing at him too.

What, no one is allowed to ridicule Obama? Leno, Stewart, Kimmel et al take shots at him all the time. That doesn't seem to bother you $tevie.
The empty chair routine was done in the days of Vaudeville. nothing crazy about it. I didn't hear Eastwood drop an f bomb, but I get that it was implied. We didn't miss the one Joe Biden dropped on an open mike though, did we? I don't Know why you guys even care what goes on at the Republican convention. Did you think they were going to sing Obama's praises? You didn't think there would be some digs and jibes on him? In that regard, I thought the whole thing was pretty tame. I was hoping Trump would be the surprise speaker and look straight into the camera and say, "Barack Obama, YOU'RE FIRED".
