Instant movies on Amz

Add my vote for the Roku — cheap, tiny, and works great for Amazon streaming to the TV over your existing wireless network.

'Could just use one of these to mirror video on a TV from any Mac with a Mini Displayport.

I'm aware of apps for youtube but I'm not aware of ones that work with amazon prime video's. Can you elaborate on what you use?

amazon has an app for viewing their streaming content on the iPad and iPhone. search the App Store.

The short answer is you cant.
If you could just download all those free movies then what would be the point of keeping your subscription?

Maybe your question isnt what I was thinking it was.

You mean you want to watch it on another device = TV -- rather than your PC/iPad.

Thats where the Roku box comes in. Connects to your TV and allows access to Amazon, youtube, hulu+, etc.

I misunderstood. I thought ztirffritz was saying there was a program to record amazon prime video's.

I agree with everyone else who sings the praises of Roku. Their interface isn't perfect but the content and function are great.

Now my question is there are several models of Roku...is the least expensive OK for me to watch Amz and YouTube? the others list games and a bunch of other stuff. WILL INTEL compete with Roku and maybe I should wait???

Intel’s (NASDAQ:INTC) long planned TV service finally has a name. The TV service, which is meant to compete with traditional cable TV services, will be called OnCue and will be launched by the end of the year.

The company recently applied for trademarks for OnCue around the world has asked the ad agency OMD to prepare the TV service’s official introduction. The new service will compete with traditional forms of cable TV with its offering of live TV feeds along with catch-up service and on-demand programming.

Intel’s new TV service will be run through a dedicated device that the company has yet to name. The device itself will be sold both online and through traditional retailers such as Best Buy (NYSE:BBY).

OMD’s Intel account director recently revealed their role in the new’s product’s development in a line on his resume. “Developed and lead the launch of Intel Media’s groundbreaking new consumer device, OnCue; an “over-the-top” TV service joining streaming-video players and a full array of Network and Cable TV channels,” he wrote. The resume page has since been password protected.

Any model Roku will do Amazon Instant.
No Roku can do YouTube.

If you want both, the best cheap and easy way to do it is with a $100 Vizio Costar.

Roku used to have YouTube channels, but they've all been pulled. I think the original channel still works, but the rest of the unofficial channels stopped working, excepting the channels like Plex that use a media server on a PC or NAS as a go between.

What's truly annoying is that you cannot airplay from an iPad or iPhone.

Yes you can, assuming you have an Apple TV or other AirPlay-compatible "server" device (some A/V receivers include AirPlay compatibility): http://www.apple.com/ios/what-is/

What TV do you have, sam? My 2 year old Panny plasma GT50 has apps available for both Amazon and YouTube.
