Why are fanny packs now deprecated?

Wore a fanny pack today on a bicycle ride through downtown Vancouver, over to Chinatown, past Granville Island a bit to the Vancouver Museum. Didn't notice anyone deprecating me or the bag. There may have sniggers after I had passed; don't have a mirror.

As for a name, my preference is for the French "sac banane".

P.S. Don't know if the "inside quotation mark" will fix itself when crossing the border, or not. Up here in Canada, it's fine the way it is.

I use a small one riding my bicycle, don't trust the shallow pockets on your average exercise shorts. If I'm going to stop at the supermarket, I use my backpack instead.

Should one be concerned about it, it just so happens that fanny packs are "back" according to fashion web sites and some movie stars. So relax and rock that bum bag! :emoticon-animal-004:
