Except for the lack of warranty, this is a better deal on the 2.3:

Warranty, shmarranty. That was a good price especially considering it had an SSD already installed. Why is this past tense? It's still available, no? If everyone agrees it's a great price, why is it still there?

They even had the elusive 2012 base mini for $409, according to refurb tracker, but it was gone before I got there.

Here is a great question, when will the current mini be updated, if ever?

If ever? The Mini gets updated less often than Apple's real moneymakers, the laptops and iMacs, but it does get updated. It's been about a year so I anticipate an update around next summer though it could be as late as next Fall, ie: a year from now.

C'mon Apple, prove me wrong! OK not by delaying it 'til 2017.

But how long between 2012 and the new one? Wasn't it even longer?

So, two years on the last update. That is just too long. Maybe I will try to wait till the next update, since it has already been over a year, but I hope it doesn't stretch out to two years, like last time.

Reportedly Apple has them mostly ready but is having problems under-clocking the i3 chip they will use.
