This thing is really dead. she has a Time Machine she did o Dec 2, but that is at her apartment in Romania.

I am thinking to get us a M1 machine and pass along out 2017 MBA to her, but I need to figure out how to get her data back once she is back home at her place in January. Or maybe I can pull the SSD from her machine and put into an external case? first I need to figure out if this is 2013 or 2014 model and see if tour sponsor sells enclosures for those SSDs.

You should be able to yank the SSD from it and if you have another 2013-2015 Apple laptop you should be able to pop it in there and get back all of the data. OWC might even have an enclosure that can read it.

You absolutely can pull the SSD from one of those. I'm not sure if they are NVME or or SATA or what, but with the right adapter, you can pull the data from it. I'm too tired to look up the data, but it's very doable. Relativively easy, even.

Get her an M1 and you’ll finally get on her good side.

Thanks, I was looking at that one earlier. They have several listing with various price points and actual sales prices for the same part number.

it would be a waste of money. Intel is good enough for her.
