Note that if you make a claim on your renter's insurance it will follow you around for several years - possibly important if you want to buy a house and are looking for homeowner's insurance. Happened to me.
Keep the deductible fairly high - maybe the price of one lens ??? (If they can steal one they will take them all.)

GeneL, were either of your parents? That usually qualifies for USAA as well. I also am not sure to what degree they check. We had our renters through USAA, and our auto through Nationwide when we rented.
USAA if they have a year of unusually low claims/payouts, will give a rebate on some % of your premiums. It has usually run in the 5-15% range most years from what i recall.

I know a guy filed 3 claims on his Homeowners and they tripled his rate for about a
year until the first claim he filed came off his record or whatever you call it.
