I haven't heard even a rumble about what is going to take place. Anybody else? They are so insanely priced on eBay( unless I was the one selling it

Many USB cameras work if you are running recent versions of OSX 10.4.X.
I would imagine some sort of iSight Built into the monitors, and maybe a stand alone USB iSight.

Camcorders w/a FireWire connection also work (w/hella good image quality to boot, probably every bit as good as the iSight...even better), don't they?

I just picked up the Logitech QuickCam 5000 at Circuit City for $30 AR, and it worked fine out of the box with 10.4.10.
Make sure it says 'RightLight2' (the 2 is important).

Apple's plan:
Go out and buy one of the new machines equipped with a built in iSight. (Note: this may conflict with your wallet)

The only thing about camcorders besides the obvious physical differences in set-up is that they "time out" after some while. The solution is to use a tape to "record" the session, but just keep re-recording the session (IOW, have only one tape).

mrbigstuff, Take the tape out and the camcorder will realize it is in video monitor mode and will not turn off itself. Hint for the day.

I keep hoping Apple will come out with a cross-platform USB2 iSight cam, but perhaps they've just dropped the idea.*
*it should be noted that the built-in iSights are all, and have been for some years now, USB2. |
